Radiographic imaging is essential for diagnosis, treatment planning, therapy and follow-up in endodontics. The accuracy of diagnosis and clinical decision making are of utmost importance to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. The advancements in technology, particularly artificial intelligence, have brought about transformative changes in various fields of medicine and dentistry, including endodontics. The integration of radiographs and AI in endodontics holds significant promise in revolutionising the way we approach diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. This presentation will delve into the process of interpretation of dental radiographs, how interpretive errors of dental radiographs occur, and how AI can enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making in endodontics.

Dr Shwetha Hegde

Short bio

Dr Shwetha S Hegde has been an Academic Fellow in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology at Sydney Dental School since 2017. She completed her Master of Dental Surgery in Oral Medicine and Radiology in 2006 and currently pursuing a PhD that investigates interpretive errors in dental radiology and the role of AI in minimising such errors. Her research interests include applications of artificial intelligence in dentomaxillofacial radiology and methods to improve patient comfort and safety in dentomaxillofacial radiology.
