Lecture objectives

This lecture will explore the additional complexities and considerations for completing endodontics for people with Special Needs, including:

Triaging and assessment, multidisciplinary care, communication strategies, sedation risk assessment (IV, GA), procedural management strategies (e.g. how to manage patients with involuntary movements, anxiety management with psychosomatic techniques), medico-legal and ethical considerations including consent, medical considerations and addressing barriers to accessing care.

Dr Trudy Lin

Short bio

Dr Trudy Lin, awarded Young Australian of the Year for South Australia in 2022, is a specialist in
Special Needs Dentistry with experience in private and public sectors. Trudy is involved in national
and international advocacy roles including the International Advisory Committee for the
International Association for Disability and Oral Health. Trudy is an honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer
at the University of Adelaide and on the RACDS Board of Studies for Special Needs Dentistry.
